hello, new year.
been feeling very mellow this past month after the wind down from school, so decided to head to oakland last night and hang with my buddy sb. we grabbed dinner at a diner i'd been wanting to check out, then caught the fireworks show from her roof before champagne toast at midnight. all in all, it was a nice series of events before starting the trek home.
i left oakland around 2am to try and avoid the embarcadero crowds after midnight. bart was mildly uneventful except for the gentleman in the row across from mine who puked all over the ground, then left. and stop after stop, people would rush on straight into the mess. get off at powell in sf and encounter three more vomiters just trying to leave the bart station. then, walk through hoards of barefoot girls in mini sequined cocktail dresses hobbling through downtown. (and silently praying they avoided the pukers). get to the bus stop to find out it is a 30 minute wait for the next bus. all the taxis are being poached faster than i can spot them, so i suck it up and wait for the bus. when it does come, it flies right by the stop because it is crammed full of people. 30 more minutes and the next bus does the same thing. it's 315am at this point and i am cold and exhausted. when the third bus passes us by without stopping, i decide to start walking and am thankful that there are still so many people out especially in the tenderloin. by van ness, i catch up with the bus, but no one is getting off and the taxis are still booked. so, i just keep walking. and finally walk all the way home. 4am and crash. what a headache. so glad i wasn't wearing a mini dress.
